A room to grow into

A Room To Grow Into

A Room To Grow Into by luvnlullabies on Polyvore.com

Come and check out my dream nursery/toddler room I created in Polyvore!
I have always been attracted to Danish & Mid-Century inspired furniture, so when I saw these items I couldn't resist.
I love it when I see a nursery that has furniture and pieces that can grow with the child!

Have a great day!

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod (a Dutch Lullaby)
by Eugene Field (1850-1895)

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
   Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
   That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
                     Said Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
   Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
   Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
   Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
   Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
   Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
   Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

This is by far my favorite lullaby to read to my daughter!

I love how Giselle Potter uses this lullaby to create such beautiful illustrations.

Sweets for your little sweet

Babies, babies and more babies! I do believe there are time in your life when there is that "something in the water" going around. Here is a cute and inexpensive idea if you are throwing or attending a baby shower.
With some cookies cutters, fondant, food coloring, toothpicks (optional) and some rubber stamps ..... the possibilities are endless. I created some cute cupcake toppers.

I used powdered sugar to dust the working surface and my rolling pin. I used old letter rubber stamps I had to spell out BABY. When using a stamp, dust it slightly with powdered sugar to prevent it from sticking to fondant when pressing.

I like to use a cheap eyeshadow brush I always use to clean out the letters if there is any sugar remaining on the fondant.

I brushed a little sugar water on the back of the top layer so they stick together. You can either have the toppers standing upright (with a toothpick) or simply place them laying down on top of the frosted cupcake.

Enjoy!
